Marco

I am a recent graduate from the University of Cambridge (St Catharine's College) in English literature, and from the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School in Professional Acting. Born and educated in Cambridge but half Italian and bilingual, I can offer both Italian and English foreign language tutoring and conversation practice, focusing on specific areas if necessary. I can also offer general English language and literature tuition, to secondary school level (GCSE, A Level), as well as university interview prep. I can offer stand-alone Italian tuition to these same levels. Finally, I am also available for drama/theatre guidance and consultancy, particularly audition monologue practice and feedback.

Tutoring Experience

I have a range of tuition experience gathered during university, and previously. During a gap year I worked on a short term basis for the Tolomei Cultural Institute in Florence, offering literature classes to American high school students residing in Italy but continuing English literature studies. Through my university I have gained extensive experience holding both acting workshops and more text-based Shakespeare workshops: notably in a US Tour, September 2015 (Sebastian, FL; Nashville, TN, and others), and UK-based school workshops (The Perse School, Cambridge; Abingdon School, Oxfordshire). I have experience of one-to-one conversation practice both in Italian and English in the Cambridge area.

Tutoring Approach

I am naturally outgoing and laid-back, and attempt at all costs to maintain a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. The best progress can be made through dialogue and continuous feedback; I will always try to stimulate conversation and challenge the student to respond, as opposed to dominating the discussion myself.
