Current University of Oxford French and Russian student with tutoring experience. Keen rower, runner and guitarist. I am a strong linguist, economist and writer. I've also lived in France, Russia and Norway. I particularly enjoy engaging with students and helping them get to grips with new concepts and putting things into context.
I have a very good understanding of the current exam system, having been recently tested myself! I'm also interested in efficient study techniques through spaced repetition and active recall, and I can recommend several software applications that have resulted in higher grades for students.
I am also happy to help students through the Oxbridge admissions system for languages, both MLAT and interviews.
Outside of tutoring, I enjoy academic research and have collaborated on a paper authored by a Fellow of the British Academy.
Tutored for seven months with CTI (Coronavirus Tutoring Initiative) in groups of 2/3 and individual sessions. Tutoring led to an 30% increase in test scores over this period and increased confidence in the subject. I aim to provide a comprehensive approach in my teaching, so that the student feels prepared when making the next step.
Oxbridge style tutorials that get students to develop their ideas with guidance. Evaluation of study methods is also an essential component of my approach to best bring out the student's potential and have a good time doing so.
