Hello! My name is María and I am a fully qualified native Spanish teacher.
I would consider myself as an enthusiastic, self-motivated and hardworking person who is always friendly, careful and responsible. I enjoy spending time with my friends and partner here in the UK, along with visiting my family who reside in Seville, Spain.
Teaching has always been a lifelong ambition of mine, that is why I have constantly been involved in jobs within the education field (paid and voluntary).
I came to England 8 years ago hoping to clarify which Masters degree I would like to do following my time at University in Spain but I quickly decided I wanted to teach people a different language than their native so they could have more options in the multi-cultural and dynamic world we currently live in.
I came to England with basic English and now I am at a very high level (self-taught).
I can understand the struggle of learning another language and how difficult it can be being somewhere where you cannot communicate with other people. This is one of the many reasons I became a Spanish teacher.
I currently work as a full time Spanish and French teacher in a well-known secondary school within the Shrewsbury area.
I am currently in my fourth year teaching Spanish and French in secondary education.
I teach high level Spanish mainly Key Stage 4 and low level Key Stage 3 French. However, I also teach Spanish to a variety of students in Key Stage 3.
Outside secondary education I teach Spanish and English to adults at all levels, via private lessons 1 to 1 and small groups.
This puts me in a great position of being able to adapt and personalise lessons to every student's needs and desires.
I design lessons that are suitable to every students needs and goals; for example, lessons would differ if your wishes are to learn Spanish to use it in a more social context (to be able to communicate if you go on holidays) or whether you are looking to be more challenged and to take a GCSE exam, for instance.
I am currently teaching a Spanish student who is working towards level C1 English and an English student who is working towards DELE A2 Spanish.
Either way, all lessons will cover the essentials skills when a learning a new language. These are: reading, speaking, listening and writing. These would be taught in a very dynamic, comfortable and fun environment.
Please, feel free to get in touch with no obligation. I am here to help you achieve your goal.
