Online Maths and Physics Lessons

I have completed a PhD in Physics at Imperial College London and also have an MPhys (first class honours) from the University of Bath. Having greatly enjoyed every aspect of my studies I hope pass on my enthusiasm and interest in science and mathematics to my students.

Tutoring Experience

I am a highly experienced tutor who has tutored full time for approximately 14 years, completing over seven thousand hours of individual tuition. I have tutored numerous students for 11+ and 13+ common entrance sciences and maths (and 11+ non-verbal reasoning). Additionally, I have helped students prepare for the 11+ exams for Collet Court , Alleyns, Emanuel School and Streatham and Clapham and the 13+ entrance exams to Dulwich College, Whitgift, Emanuel School and Allyen’s School. I have also tutored students for the Westminster Pre Test and the 10+ for City of London Boys.

Additionally, I have tutored dozens of students for GCSEs in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Maths, and for A level and undergraduate level Physics and the Core, Further Pure and Mechanics modules of the A level Maths and Further Maths syllabus.

I have also worked extensively with students with special educational needs (ADHD, Auditory Processing Disorder, dyslexia and Asperger syndrome)

I also have experience of tutoring IB standard level mathematics (both analysis and approaches and applications and interpretation), and IB standard level biology.

Additionally, I have prepared students for both the BMAT and GMSAT exams for entry to medical school and helped adult learners prepare for career specific aptitude tests such as the numeracy tests for trainee teachers and entry to the Metropolitan Police. I have also tutored students for both the Primary Maths Challenge and Junior Mathematical Olympiad.

Tutoring Approach

I believe it is essential to adapt the tutoring style to the student so would typically spend some time establishing a student’s prior knowledge, their level of ability and what they hope to gain from my tuition. For those students who are particularly interested in additional tuition to pass specific exams I think it is very beneficial to spend time improving exam technique – studying past papers, model answers to typical questions, mock examinations and dealing with exam nerves.
For University level students I strongly believe in encouraging and guiding the student to become self reliant and so would often advise spending some time learning about the relative accountability and reliability of different sources of information such as text books, scientific journals and websites, and to begin to assess and proof read their own work so that after graduating they are able to work and study independently.
