Originally from the North West, I've lived in Sheffield since 1988 and am a physics teacher in a successful school in Sheffield. I have a passion for physics and believe almost anyone can find success in the subject given the right guidance. As a practising teacher I have up to date knowledge of current specifications, familiarity with all recent exam questions and have a current DBS check.
I have 31 years of teaching experience. I've taught in three schools in Sheffield since I entered the profession in 1993. I've been teaching A level for ten years. Currently teaching AQA at GCSE and A level, although I have recently taught OCR GCSE. I have tutored to the OCR, Edexcel and AQA A level specifications.
I am also currently an examiner with OCR and Edexcel and, as such, am fully up to date with exam question styles and have a deep understanding of the requirements of the mark schemes.
This is very much dependent on the preferred learning style of the individual. My default approach would be to cover a section of the specification and check understanding of the statements and then tackle an appropriate number of past exam questions in order to cement the understanding and, equally as importantly, gain as much experience of the type of questions encountered in the final exam. This approach wouldn't necessarily be ideal for everyone, though, so I am happy to go with whatever works for each person.
