Hello, I have a passion for history and research. I love to get lost in research, teasing out the past from surviving evidence. My areas of specialty is Roman Britain and the Medieval Period.

Area's that I have researched extensively are:

Roman Cities and City Life.

Medieval Economy And Trade circa 900-1400.

The socio-political landscape of medieval Britain.

Anti-Judaic rhetoric of 12th and 13th century Britain.

Medical History from circa 9th to 20th Century.

For those wishing to undertake lessons in Latin I use the Wheelocks Latin system combined with Ecclesiastical Medieval Latin. If you only wish to learn Classical Latin this can also be arranged though for completion I recommend both to all students.

Learning Latin from a text book can be a little tedious for most students therefore I will also use example manuscripts for the students to practice what they have learned.

Tutoring Experience

I have quite a few years teaching as a tutor and as a university guest lecturer.

Tutoring Approach

My approach is through discussion lead teaching. I believe this can aid the student in becoming more confident when interpreting historical evidence.

If a student wishes to study the Roman City I am able to give a guided tour of Lincoln City Centre which typically lasts around an hour. There is quite a lot of hill walking involved therefore I would advise that students would need a reasonable level of physical fitness as most areas are not accessible by foot and steep hill is not suited to wheel chair users (or even cars!)

Note for parents/guardians: If you require homework help sessions or regular history tutoring I am able to follow the National Curriculum guidelines for GCSE and A Levels. I would generally offer these sessions over Skype or FaceTime but if you would like in person tutoring I am able to oblige.
