Committed and enthusiastic secondary English teacher. Accomplished in the design and delivery of a challenging and engaging English and media studies curriculum. Having taught English in mainstream schools for over 6 years, I deem myself a highly skilled practitioner ensuring the best possible outcomes for all of my students. My expertise in differentiating for a range of abilities has proven effective in ensuring all learners are given equal opportunities to meet or exceed their academic expectations.
I have taught English since 2016 in mainstream secondary schools in England and Scotland. I have delivered the SQA, Edexcel and AQA specifications teaching National 5, Higher, GCSE, IGCSE and A level English literature and language. I have previously been a Head of English and Media studies as well as a Lead Practitioner in English. I have also previously had examiner training for both the AQA and Edexcel specifications and am currently an examiner for the GCSE English Language AQA component.
I have also planned and delivered outreach sessions for students who are no longer in mainstream education due to social, emotional and special educational needs. I have also had extensive experience working with students with ADHD, ASN and dyslexia.
An inclusive education is at the forefront of my practice. For this reason, I ensure all of my lessons and resources are differentiated and individualized for the needs of all learners. Through the effective use of scaffolding my students can access the curriculum with ease and are challenged appropriately ensuring they have a thorough breadth of knowledge and understanding of English literature and language.
