Hi, I'm Matt! I'm an award-winning (Electronics Weekly, UK Electronics Skills Foundation, Institution of Engineering and Technology) Electronic Engineer who recently graduated top of my cohort from a 5-year Master's degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering (MEng) at the University of Nottingham. At A Level I achieved 4 A*s and was an Arkwright Engineering Scholar. I now work in the Electronics industry in Cambridge.
As a recent graduate, I still have a very academic mindset, and I have a strong grasp of the material that could otherwise be lost after many years in industry. Having sat A Levels myself only 5 years ago, I am very familiar with the process and the specifications.
I previously tutored struggling students in Maths whilst at school and also worked as an Assistant at Kumon Maths and English for a year. Whilst at University, I have provided mentorship for several University and A Level Electronics students.
I regularly conduct Electronics outreach on behalf of the UK Electronics Skills Foundation and in my capacity as a STEM Learning Volunteer.
A Level and GCSE Electronics are challenging courses, and unfortunately, support for them across the country can be widely varying. Many schools do not offer them, meaning educational resources can be sparse. I'm here to help you make the most of a fantastic course.
I also offer tutoring in GCSE and A Level Physics - subjects in which I achieved A*s at GCSE and A Level, and heavily crossover with my degree.
Whether you are struggling with the concepts and exams, or want to be extended and pushed, perhaps in preparation for transitioning to higher education, I can tailor my teaching around your needs.
I try to strike a balance between an exam focus, and wider understanding. Ultimately, exams are king with school subjects and results matter, so our sessions would involve practicing questions and becoming well-versed in the typical assessment across the modules. However, it is also important to ensure a greater understanding and not developing a reliance purely on rote learning. For this reason, my sessions would also aim to spark further interest in the subject, and provoke questions.
Naturally, this will be tailored to prioritise the needs of the student.
