I am a private tutor, History graduate and actor with two years’ experience in tuition after working as a TA and Cover Supervisor. During my degree I completed modules in a wide range of periods, and was selected for a placement at a secondary school to study Education. In my acting vocation I have had several paid professional roles varying from main character to supporting artist, in a variety of different media (including film, television, theatre, and more), and am booked for ongoing work.
As a Private Tutor I currently teach KS2 English & Maths, 11+ Assessment preparation, KS3 Maths, and English as a Foreign Language to a Ukrainian student. I have also taught A-Level History, and KS1 English & Maths. Additionally I supplement lessons for particular tutees with art tuition, to build their talents and interest in this area. I hold 3 A-Levels and 10 GCSEs at A*-A grades, including A* in English Literature, English Language, and Maths.
As a TA in both primary and secondary schools, I was flexible in supporting a variety of topics and learning activities in all year groups from Year 2-11 (primarily Years 4 and 7), and taught students with a range of different learning-styles.
As well as my teaching experience in the UK, I have had the privilege of volunteering at a secondary school in Kenya. During my own 6th Form
education l was chosen by my school to participate in Model United Nations as the delegate for Botswana and was awarded “best male artist” multiple years running. I used this skill for a charity fundraiser, selling my artwork and donating the proceeds to the Prince’s Trust.
I believe having a deep understanding of a wide range of topics is the best foundation to teach any one subject, and I draw from the full range of my academic background to make lessons engaging and informative. I see the value of private tuition as being able to offer a tailored approach to each individual student’s own learning style, abilities and personality. Using three years of professional education experience and my interest in performance, I convey knowledge and understanding of challenging topics in clear, engaging ways to enable students to achieve their potential and make the learning experience enjoyable and rewarding.
In my work as a Tutor, TA and Cover Supervisor I’ve closely with children who have challenges in understanding particular topics, and I am able to help them understand the material in clear, accessible ways. I’ve also supported children who excelled in certain areas, working to bring their comprehension to the next level through my academic knowledge, and communication.
