I am currently Head of the Humanities Faculty at St David’s College in Llandudno and am just starting my ninth year at this establishment. Before this I worked for eight years at a predominantly Welsh first language school in Harlech. Prior to teaching I worked at the Snowdonia National Park in the Access department before embarking on a role with Explore Worldwide, working as a tour leader. This allowed me to expand on my global travel experience and strengthen my enthusiasm for Geography and all its brilliant facets. This, along with my general travels has meant I've visited 62 countries to date, with a general focus on ex-Soviet countries and sub-Saharan countries. Highlights have included a summer on the Trans-Siberian railway; summitting Kilimanjaro four times; cycling around Madagascar; hitchhiking in Tajikistan and Afghanistan and wild camping in gems such as Moldova, Armenia, Georgia, and Azerbaijan. In recent years I've learnt to appreciate the local area with far more passion with my home Snowdonia, the Lake District and Scotland leading the way. My other passion is fell running, this has allowed me to visit some incredible places, whilst also providing the opportunity to compete for Wales and Great Britain.
I teach across all secondary age groups, specialising in GCSE and A level and predominantly have experience in teaching the WJEC and EDUQAS specifications, however I also have a broad depth of knowledge regards all other exam boards also. English and Welsh are both my first language and so I've the ability to teach in both languages. I've always prided myself in ensuring my students achieve to their full potential whilst also fully enjoying the subject and immersing in the enthusiasm. The results and student take-up over the years are thorough proof of this success.
I am happy to teach at the tutees house if needs be and within a sustainable distance from home whilst also teaching online. My approach is generally on an individual basis and tailor-made sessions, working off what is required from each individual tutee. My main aim though is to enthuse the tutees, sharing my own experiences and enhancing the tutees learnings.
