I'd really describe myself as a person with a versatile skill-set, a lot of integrity and a willingness to go that extra mile for my students to succeed. In 2011 I changed my career to focus on teaching and training having spent eleven years in the e-learning sector designing and implementing training programs for the armed forces. I have a military background in the Royal Navy where I worked as as a Survey Recorder around the British Isles and onboard HMS Endurance in Antarctica. I have a keen interest in mathematics and web-based learning programs. I also teach acoustic and classical guitar.
I attained my Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) from Hull University in 2013. Since then I've taught Mathematics in schools in the Humber region including St Bede's Academy in Scunthorpe and Andrew Marvel College in Hull. I've tutored for the past 5 years and have achieved great results with my students helping them pass their GCSE's and SAT tests.
I offer Mathematics tuition for students working towards their GCSE's as well as students studying KS2 and KS3. I also teach English at KS2 and provide support for students working towards 11+ entrance exams.
I have high expectations of all the students I teach and encourage them to reach their full potential. I believe students should be able to take control of their own learning by expressing their ideas and suggestions. Using varying teaching styles and effective assessment techniques I can decide the best learning path for the student.
