Qualified Languages Teacher, BA in Spanish and Philosophy from University of Oxford, Postgraduate Diploma in Education
I am a dynamic, positive and results-oriented teacher trained under the acclaimed Teach First Leadership Development programme. I grew up in Belgium and speak fluent Spanish, French and Greek. I pursued my love of language, literature and philosophy through my degree at the University of Oxford. I specialised in Advanced Translation and wrote my undergraduate dissertation on the Argentinian author Silvina Ocampo.
I have two years experience teaching Spanish and French and English as a Foreign Language in a UK state secondary school and experience with private tutoring.
I am a fully qualified Teacher of Modern Foreign Languages and completed my teacher training through the Teach First Leadership Development Programme. I have taught students with a wide range of abilities, special educational needs, and emotional needs and I am able to cater for these.
I have experience leading extra-curricular revision sessions with small groups of pupils where I targeted gaps in knowledge and exam skills. The students attending my weekly revision sessions went up by at least one grade in all four exam papers (Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing).
I am deeply familiar with the Oxbridge admissions process (Personal Statement, Admissions tests and Interview preparation) and I am able to offer coaching and support for any of these. My focus is helping students get into their first choice university by guiding them through the application process and supporting them to achieve the highest possible grades in their exams.
My approach is to be a patient, lively and adaptable teacher responsive to the academic needs of students. In my lessons I inspire and guide students to fulfil their academic potential through my love of languages and pedagogical expertise. I have a track record of motivating even the most disengaged students.
Though I am results-oriented, and understand the importance of grades, my approach is to teach my students grammar knowledge, strategies and thinking skills that will be useful to them for the rest of their lives.
