Christopher Max

Hi, my name is Max.
I have been teaching English as a foreign language for over twenty years in the UK, Turkey and Japan.
I am passionate about the subject of teaching and the English language.
I do conversation and grammar correction. I have also taught IELTS writing.
I hold a Diploma in EFL. I am also qualified in art and have taught artist's skills to foreign language students who are interested.
I am located in the Beckenham area and within 5 minutes walk from two train stations: Kent House and New Beckenham.
I believe in encouraging students and gentle correction.I think every learner is an individual and needs a different approach.I give new students a one assessment to evaluate what that particular student and needs for their life.
It may be professional or just personal.I set projects but not home work, that has a negative school quality which I want to avoid.
I also respect the fact that some people learn faster than others.As slow learner myself I have sympathy with this.I do believe you can learn at almost any age and depending on what result you want can make progress. .I take lessons at the students pace and above all, hope they enjoy the process.

Over 20 years in UK, Japan and Turkey. I have worked for 4 schools that were all British council approved.
Ten years in the graphic and design industry.

Tutoring Approach

I am passionate about my subject.Every student is different and needs a different approach.Assessment of the student's needs is essential and I keep notes for revision.Praise and correction is essential.
