I am a fully qualified teacher with the GTCS and I received my Chemistry masters from the University of Edinburgh in 2020 and completed my Professional Graduate Diploma in Education in 2021. My current role is as a Senior Science Communicator. My tutoring days are Wednesday, Thursday and Friday with more availability closer to exam time. I have a booking system to manage this but may not have the same times available each week. Therefore, the bookings are very flexible for both me and you.
Most experience in the Scottish curriculum.
I have lots of experience teaching chemistry to students in secondary schools. I am a registered teacher with the General Teaching Council, which means I met high standards in teaching. In the classroom, I made learning chemistry fun and accessible with my patient persona. I really enjoyed helping students understand difficult concepts by reducing jargon and encouraging them to think critically.
The first appointment will be used to discuss with the student where they are in their studies currently and where they would like to be for exam season. My tutoring approach in chemistry is personalized and engaging, tailored to each student's needs. I assess their understanding to identify knowledge gaps and focus on specific areas. I use various teaching techniques, simplifying complex concepts with relatable examples. I encourage active participation and provide practical applications to enhance comprehension and retention. I create a supportive and collaborative learning environment to help students excel.
