Online Japanese Lessons

Hi! I love Japanese traditional & contemporary culture and currently stay in the UK. I was touched by the beauty of 'Ukiyo-e' and Japanese classic literature like 'Haiku' when I was a junior high school student and started visiting temples in Kyoto when I was 14 years old. In high school, I belonged to a Japanese tea ceremony club and developed a particular interest in 'Wagashi', Japaese incense, and Japanese pottery. My love for traditional Japanese culture was what motivated me to go to university in Kyoto, and I ended up having a wonderful time there, far beyond my expectations.

About Japanese contemporary culture, I've loved Japanese mangas and animations since I was in primary school, thanks to my older sister who was deep Otaku. We enjoyed renting and watching all animation videos from the video rental shops and going to voice actors' events a lot. I think the 90s was the golden age of Japanese animation and I sense that many manga artists today are strongly influenced by the animation of that time. I'm too busy to watch animation these days, but I read manga every night.

I became attracted to the unique fashion of the characters in animation, and I dreamed of becoming a fashion designer when I was a junior high school student. Fortunately, Tokyo fashion was at its peak in 2000, so I asked my parents to spend all of my pocket money on clothes for Harajuku fashion and Lolita fashion. After returning home from junior school, I watched a recorded TV show called 'Fashion Tsushin' repeatedly every day.

I also like Japanese contemporary art and worked at an art gallery in Japan. Although not many foreigners know about it, there are many art festivals held in rural areas in Japan to revitalize towns and villages, and I visited many of them and discovered unique Japanese local cultures.

Tutoring Experience

No experience teaching Japanese so far. I would be better suited to teaching casual learners. I don't think it's currently suitable for people who are studying for a language exam. I encourage you to learn the basics on your own and use your time with me to put them into practice.

I have an excellent ability to use polite Japanese language as I worked as a lecturer and a web article writer in Japan. I'm able to speak some Japanese dialects in Kyushu and Kansai, Kanto districts.

Japanese is a language that is still changing. Every year, new words are created, and the meaning of existing words changes. Also, it is important to understand the unique psychology of Japanese people when you have conversations with them. The way to answer the same question varies depending on the situation. I would like to teach you how to communicate smoothly with Japanese people by choosing natural and appropriate words for the situation and speaking in a way that suits your personality.

You can't learn the Japanese "spirit" just by living in Japan. I was able to learn the spirit, thanks to the many people who had it. In fact, there are many native Japanese who have never had this experience in their life and haven't taken over the spirit from others.

Tutoring Approach

I'd like to provide online lessons. The lesson content will change depending on your goals. I think it's most efficient to learn Japanese by focusing on the topics that interest you most. Also, I have a lot of experiences in my life, from funny ones to scary ones that are unique to Japanese people, so I think you might enjoy hearing about them. I look forward to talking with you!
