I am an experienced Geography teacher, having worked with a range of students of varying ability and learning needs, to support and scaffold their progress through GCSE, A-Level, International A-Level and IB qualifications, towards Higher Education.
I have over fourteen years' experience teaching Geography, including within a leading independent institution, specialising in GCSE/A-Level teaching (KS3-5). Within my teaching career, I have mentored and tutored numerous students on a one-to-one basis to great success, leading to further study at university. This has included supporting university and apprenticeship applications for students through pastoral and senior management roles as a Head of Year and Head of Sixth Form.
I have gained valuable experience within the subject through exam marking at GCSE, which I utilise to support my students in my current teaching role.
I have always valued self-reflection and identifying the small steps that can be achieved to enable progress; this is at the core of my teaching. Working with young adults to recognise their learning styles and needs, within the context of Geography, to support their understanding of the subject and how they can best apply this in lessons and in an exam setting. My lessons centre around the individual and are formative in their approach to consolidate their previous knowledge to build confident Geography students, with resources that are digestible yet challenging - including past paper question analysis, revision techniques and case study application.
