Michelle is an unbelievably helpful tutor…

I started tuition with Michelle in around March 2022 all the way until my GCSEs and previously I was consistently achieving Grade 7s in my English work. However due to Michelle’s help over the last 3 months I managed to improve my Grades significantly as I achieved Grade 9s in both my English Language and Literature.

I strongly recommend anyone who is interested in an English tutor to approach Michelle, as not only is she an excellent tutor, but she is a very helpful and kind one too who is always willing to help.

Michelle is an amazing tutor who was extremely capable in helping my daughter get her A grade in the English Language A Level exam.
My daughter says that she really enjoyed her classes with Michelle and that even with the added stress of a pandemic, she felt confident that with all the lessons and support that she would get an A.

Michelle started tutoring my son for GCSE English Literature back in September 2019 as his expected grade at that time was quite low. Michelle demonstrated a very calm and methodical approach to teaching and within a matter of weeks, I could see huge improvements to my son’s understanding of English Literature. She was very supportive and helped him learn key aspects of texts and technique. English Literature is a subject my son was not particularly interested in, but with Michelle’s help, he has learnt to appreciate the subject and show determination on increasing his grade. Unfortunately Fiachra will not be sitting his exam this year due to coronavirus, however the help that Michelle has given him over the last 7 months has been invaluable and I have no hesitation in recommending her to other parents. We are great full with Michelle's help her patience and understanding. My daughter's first A-level mocks was a disaster she got E/U with a U overall. We found Michelle and with her help my daughter's last mock (before her actual exams) which she was sad she didn't get to take, but she got a C/B. All we can say is a big thank you as my daughter had came so far.

Michelle has been a fantastic tutor in the time she has helped me. Everything was explained clearly and in a way I understood (Assessment Objectives, terminology and how to properly breakdown and answer a question) and she was always very kind and supportive so I didn't feel shy or reluctant when asking questions or when asking for feedback. I made a great amount of progress and Michelle was very helpful with planning sessions and regularly updated me on her availability. The sessions were catered to what I needed and we'd break down a question, plan and flesh out answers which helped me greatly in my mocks and classwork.
I'm certain that if exams hadn't been cancelled I would've reached my target come May and so I highly recommend her.

Thanks for all your help to get Frazer his B in A Level English Language (improving from a D grade the previous year). Michelle quickly established a good rapport with my son and provided great encouragement for his gcse in English Literature. The regular feedback we received was thorough and constructive. Although Michelle lives locally to us, our son chose to switch to online sessions which Michelle planned and organised well and meant we didn't need to juggle another lift amongst our manu other activities! Skilled, individualised English tuition for GCSE level sons (one of whom was very reluctant at the start). Michelle prepares for their lessons throughly, be it homework they have forwarded to her or just general course skill requirement practice. Great regular feedback to the boys and myself. The boys speak highly of her without prompt.

I studied with Michelle a couple of years ago, I was looking fo a tutor to help me prepare for the English CAE exam. She guided me through the test format with lot of examples and practice for every section. She helped me in building confidence and strenghtening my weak points.

Michelle is a brilliant English tutor. My son only achieved a Grade 3 in his English Language and Literature Mocks. I got in touch with Michelle through First Tutors in January 2018 due to this. She was very organised and structured the lessons well. My son felt very comfortable with her and worked well during her sessions. The results speak for themselves as he achieved a Grade 7 in English Language and a Grade 6 in English Literature. He was delighted with his progress. Michelle only started tutoring my daughter in the last weeks before her A level English Language exams (Easter 2018) yet she managed to give her a structural and comprehensive understanding of how to approach the dreaded paper 1 - my daughter went from an E (on this paper) in her January mocks to an A* !!! Our son came to us in January and told us he was having problems analysing questions in English Language papers. He was therefore struggling to answer the questions, and we realised he was trying hard and wanted to succeed. We engaged the help of Michelle, and Davey saw her once a week up to Easter. The one to one tuition gave him the help he required and also it gave him the confidence to succeed. We did not think he would get English Language first time, but he did. He is delighted and so are we. Whilst we are also grateful to the teachers at his school, I don't think this would have been possible without the extra guidance from Michelle.

We approached Michelle roughly a couple of months before the A level (English Lit.) exams. She was superb with my son in probing areas for improvement and worked extensively to enrich his exam writing technique. Michelle worked very quickly with our daughter to baseline her current performance and to understand the areas and topics in which she wanted help as well as needed help. Michelle has been assisting my son with his English GCSEs, just completed this summer. When I first made contact with Michelle, she was very quick to respond and set up our initial meeting. I had reservations about persuading my teenage son to engage in extra tuition sessions on top of school,but, after reassurance from Michelle, and 2 visits later, he was more accepting and willing to go. Michelle did some initial assessments, and then provided a revision plan covering all elements of the curriculum in Language and Literature. She quickly identified areas of weakness, and each week would produce extracts to examine, break down, analyse, and compare… working through writers techniques and use of vocabulary. Michelle developed my son's understanding and improved his confidence and writing skills.

Michelle has been a wonderful tutor, who is professional at all times. She replied promptly to emails, and text, and was always available to answer any queries. Her calm and soft approach made my son feel comfortable in her company and over the weeks we built up a good rapport. My son undertook his exams with more confidence and we were both impressed by Michelle's professionalism and knowledge. I have Michelle for a fortnightly 2 hour session to work on A2 English Literature and Language B for AQA.

She prepares well for our sessions and tailors them exactly to my needs. She has also picked up on areas I didn't know needed improvement such as basic grammar when writing essays. Furthermore, she uses her own time to find mark schemes, examiners reports and to mark essays she sets me as 'homework'.

Overall, she has been an invaluable help and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to anyone in need of an EXCELLENT English tutor.
