Hello! I am a friendly and enthusiastic teacher of Sociology and Psychology at a large comprehensive school in Bedfordshire. Alongside teaching I have a keen interest in travel and enjoy exploring new places. I studied Criminology and Social Policy at the University of Sheffield and my enthusiasm for the social sciences has continued to grow since then. I have a PGCE teaching certificate for Social Sciences and also mark for the exam board and therefore have a strong understanding of exam requirements.
I have been teaching Sociology and Psychology for eight years. I teach both GCSE and A Level classes and am Head of Department in my school and so have a good hold on the course material and learning needs at Key Stage 4 and 5. I have taught from the AQA specification for GCSE and A level Sociology. I also teach the GCSE Edexcel Psychology course as well as AQA A level Psychology. I do not however offer tuition for A level Psychology.
I believe that the best approach to tutoring is for the students to tell you what their needs are and work from there. I will go through material that students find challenging, look at exam papers and mark practice answers. I'll also ensure they have a copy of the specification to check they have covered all relevant material. The way in which we go through the material is very much dependent on the individual needs and wants of the tutees. My aim is to make everyone feel relaxed and comfortable to ensure they get the best out of the time we work together.
