My background is in Chemistry (BSc and PhD) but I have worked in IT for the last 25 years or so. I have enjoyed working with both my own children during their GCSE and A-level studies and also with my recent tutoring experience.

Tutoring Experience

I have tutored both my children through their GCSEs in the last 5 years or so and over the last year I have been doing voluntary online tutoring work in GCSE Physics and Chemistry as part of the Access Project. This organisation aims to match tutors with inner-city students to help them boost their grades via 1-2-1 tuition sessions.

Tutoring Approach

I can work with students either online (Zoom) or face to face. Initially I like to understand what the aims of the students are and then tailor the learning accordingly. In each session I like to set out clear goals, then work through some topic background and worked examples before setting the student some questions to test their knowledge and understanding.
