I am a primary care pharmacist working for the NHS. I qualified approximately four years ago and have worked in a variety of roles since. My daily role includes calculating medication doses and utilising mathematical equations to calculate rate of drug elimination, kidney function etc. and applying knowledge of pharmacokinetics to solve medication issues.
I successfully tutored children alongside completing my Masters degree in Pharmacy and have gained more than 3 years' of experience in the process. I have generally worked with children aged 8-13 years old and can confidently garner my teaching approach to suit the individual.
In addition, having successfully applied and having received offers to study Pharmacy from the following universities: Manchester, Durham, Bath, Cardiff and Reading and completing my pre-registration training at the highly competitive St George's NHS Foundation Trust, I will be offering support with university applications for students wishing to study Pharmacy.
I request a copy of the student's curriculum ahead of our first session together and provide an initial assessment, to ascertain a baseline level of knowledge and understanding. I then use this assessment to identify key areas of improvement and tailor teaching methods based on the student's learning style. I use regular progress checks to track the student's development and as a tool to further focus teaching. The format of the lesson is heavily dependent on the student's learning needs, but loosely follows: warm-up exercise, identifying learning objectives, main teaching point, exercises as practice, marking and discussion, homework-setting.
