I am a female Maths private tutor specialising in one to ones. A bit about myself. After doing my A Levels in Economics, Sociology, Business and AS Maths I went on to University to study Accounting & Finance where I attained a 1st Class Bachelors Honours degree. During my time at University I went on a student exchange programme to Canada and studied at Carleton University in Ottawa for a semester and thereafter travelled around Canada and America.
After my travels I came back to start my placement for a year as a Strategic Procurement Analyst. I really enjoyed my sandwich year and went back to University for my final year.
After my degree I then worked with Lancashire Police delivering counter terrorism workshops at schools, colleges and community centres. I enjoyed the class environment and delivering that I decided to do my PGCE in FE. Maths is a passion and I wanted to break down barriers!
Having taught Maths for a while I then wanted to do some CPD to help my students further therefore I studied my Maths subject specialism course.
I am also an AQA Examiner which enables me to help all students when it comes to exam techniques and picking up marks in the exam.
I am easy going, approachable and have a real passion for education. I am able to communicate with different walks of life whilst remaining professional.
I have a vast amount of experience (15 years) in teaching Maths. Not only do I have the knowledge but I am able to pass on this knowledge to my students.
The opportunity to teach Keystage 2 up to GCSE Maths, Functional Skills Entry 1,2,3 and level 1 & 2, the Free Maths Standing Qualification (FSMQ), Adult Numeracy and QTS numeracy, I am able to provide precise & concise teaching.
This involves breaking up hard topics and making it easier to grasp.
I have previously taught ESOL, GCSE Urdu, GCSE English and A Level English but have specialised in Maths. Which all in all I have 15 years teaching experience.
My recent qualification was the Advanced Numeracy (Mathematics Subject Specialist Qualified), which has enhanced my skills further.
I am a true believer in anything is achievable! I am DBS Enhanced certified and based in Fulwood, Preston. Due to the current climate of Covid I now only tutor online via zoom. I provide a very similar if not better experience online. I have asked for feedback from my current students whom I teach all online and have asked whether online tuition or face to face tuition is preferred. All of my students have said online as they feel I am with them in the room. This platform has enabled me to tutor nationwide and internationally.
Key tutoring is working at my students pace & building confidence. All of my sessions are student based. With my positivity, techniques and knowledge all of my students have progressed. Maths shouldn't be a fear. It is a subject that should be embraced but ultimately my motto is progression leads to succession!
My sessions include using 10QQs software for revision, guiding students with exam techniques, motivating each and every individual. I do regular past exam paper practice. I have seen both sides of the coin. The student perspective and the teachers perspective. Students have to be willing and I will help increase knowledge.
I am easy going and supportive. However this does not mean my student will take it easy. Quite the opposite. In my session my student won't realise how fast the hour passes but they will realise the amount they have learnt.
Humour and silly acronyms will help retain information. It's never dull!
48 hour cancellation notice to be provided otherwise session is fully chargeable.
