"I am a professional, self-directed, committed, and qualified educator passionate about student development and the learning experience. I teach Maths and Business Studies. I have been marking AQA GCSE Maths and Business Studies papers for over five years. Additionally, I also mark A-level Business Studies papers."
"I aim to provide learners with numerous opportunities and experiences to engage, motivate, and prepare them for future life. An appropriate, balanced, challenging, and creative curriculum is essential for developing children’s skills, knowledge, and understanding. These elements all support personalized learning. In particular, I have come to understand the value of sharing learning objectives and success criteria with the learners. Clarifying expectations and outlining how they can achieve them allows children to focus more clearly on tasks. This approach also facilitates effective self and peer assessments, as there are clear criteria and objectives to assess against, encouraging the learners to take more responsibility for their own learning progression needs to be carefully planned so that, as children work and explore at their own pace, there is always something ready to advance them further in their learning. I also believe that differentiation to meet varied learning styles is crucial for effective teaching and learning. Work should be set at an appropriate but challenging level. When preparing lessons, I consciously ensure that I am not only catering to visual learners like myself but also strive to see lessons through the eyes of other learners."
I conduct both one-to-one and group sessions. The impact of tuition is substantial, leading to significant increases in the attainment of tutored pupils. Additionally, it affects aspects of their lives that are more challenging to measure, such as confidence, improved parental relationships, and a shift in attitude toward learning and self-perception. Many tutored pupils have expressed that they perceive their life chances to be significantly enhanced due to the newfound confidence gained through their tuition experience.
