Experienced IGCSE teacher of Chemistry and Mathematics. I taught in an international college which specialises in intensive courses(12-18 months) in small classes. Due to COVID, I have taught online lessons on Zoom. My best result was obtaining 9A-A* out of a mixed ability class of 12. I have over 10 years experience teaching supply in a hearing impaired school where I often have to change my approach so as to engage my pupils. I have also worked in state schools and private and state sixth form colleges.
11 years of A level Chemistry with excellent results
18 months teaching Nuffield A level Chemistry and lower forms Chemistry.
14 years of teaching CIE IGCSE Chemistry and 4 years of IGCSE Mathematics.
2 years of teaching pre GCSE Chemistry and Maths.
14 years of teaching Foundation Business Maths- access course to university.
(100% examination) and recently due to COVID- no exams but 2 sets of coursework. This course is authenticated by the John Moore University and now University of Lancaster.
I like to use resources from everyday examples, textbooks, past examination papers and also online resources. I develop rapport quickly with my students and am used to give catch-up lessons on a 1:1 basis. These past 14 years I have concentrated my teaching to IGCSE as I feel the students need a good basis to build on before their A levels. My colleagues were very impressed with my former students (now doing A level Chemistry) with their confidence and skills doing practical. Equally the Mathematics students are well prepared for their A level course too
