I have several years of teaching experience, and I have tutored in-person and online for nearly a decade.
Many of the people I have tutored previously came to me because they were failing - and ended up achieving an A in the end! I also have several cases where students chose to continue onto Higher English after I tutored them for N5, when they would not have previously chosen to continue the subject to that level.
I have been a marker for the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) for several years, across levels and papers in both English and Media.
If you are more interested in creative writing, I have facilitated lots of poetry and prose workshops too and would be keen to support your development.
My method is student-led: I question, coach, and mentor to work with you to see how you prefer to learn, and I use my experience to ascertain how you most easily and enjoyably learn too. No two learners have the same requirements and we can tailor aspects like feedback, independent work, homework, structured tasks, etc. to your preferences.
I have extensive experience working with learners who are neurodivergent and have been commended for my research in accessibility too.
We can work together to create the best conditions for you to succeed. Everyone is an amazing learner - we just need to unlock how you learn.
