I am an A-level tutor focusing on Biology. I have been a science teacher for many years and Head of the Biology department. I also do GCSE tutoring as well. I enjoy getting to improve my student's confidence to attain high exam results. As a tutor, I am flexible and determined to work with you and your child to demonstrate improved progress in areas of difficulties. As an outgoing person with a strong work ethic, I am able to navigate challenges and create effective solutions.
I am currently a science classroom teacher at a secondary school and Key Stage 5 Manager of biology. I have taught all three sciences, biology, chemistry and physics at GCSE level. This year I have the opportunity to teach year 7-13. I have made outstanding efforts with students progress. Students have received 2 levels above their target grade. Flexible- offering online lesson as well.
Over my teaching career, I have become proficient in the two exam boards OCR and AQA. Most recently, I am subject specialist for in Biology for A levels.
You may not get it yet, but you will !
My approach to tutoring is at three-tiered progress:
It's important that the tutee and parent develop a sense of tutee in this one-on-one environment. On our first meeting, I will observe the tutee, listen to and provide feedback. This will allow me to identify areas of improvement. In doing so, I am better able to cater to the tutee's individual learning needs.
Collaborating with the tutee to set both realistic and achievable goals. Keeping a record of goals that have been achieved and ones that are still in progress. This demonstrates the tutee continued progress over time.
Offering different resources (exam-style questions, past paper exams, and extended writing task) provide continued and varied opportunities to practise and hone in a skill. With handwork and good with ethic any tutee is capable of mastery skills in science. Continual praise and encouragement further help in building and maintaining student's confidence in science. This will promote independent study and translate well on future assessments.
