Hi! My name is Neha and I'm currently a first-year postgraduate student in Medicine at the University of Edinburgh! As someone who grew up enjoying the study of math and learning various languages, I can appreciate the importance of a good teacher or tutor, and hope to pass this down to my students!
As for a bit of background about me, I previously completed an undergraduate B.A.& Sc. degree in Cognitive Science and Mathematics, as well as a research-based master’s degree in Social and Transcultural Psychiatry - both from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. And before my undergraduate degree, I passed the International Baccalaureate with Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and French as my higher level subjects. Moreover, during my undergraduate degree, I worked as both a teaching assistant in the Mathematics Department at McGill University and a peer tutor (mostly in Mathematics) during the academic year. I'm really passionate about both mathematics and languages, and would love the opportunity to help you like these subjects (or at least fear them a little less!) over the course of our tutoring sessions.
My approach to tutoring is balancing theoretical explanations with practical applications - send me your problem sets beforehand, and I'm happy to tailor the session's conversations and explanations around them and then work through the problems together! I believe that mathematics and languages have a lot more in common than most people think, so my approach works for either!
