I am an enthusiastic 22 year old Musical Theatre Graduate from Northern Ireland. I have a passion for all things Drama and Musical Theatre, performing and teaching. I have performed for 16 years and taught for just over 6. I am particularly passionate about helping young people start out their journey in drama studies and performance as I believe drama and musical theatre are a core practice for social and mental development.
I began by shadowing a well-known Speech and Drama/ Musical Theatre tutor from Northern Ireland at the age of 16 and really grew and developed under her wings. From there, she helped me qualify as a Speech and Drama teacher, before taking a year between A- Level Studies and Drama school to really practice and hone in on my teaching skills- specifically working with children aged 4-10 years. I also, throughout that year, directed and assistant directed a few musicals, under amateur dramatic societies in Northern Ireland. Since going to Drama school, I feel more experienced and qualified to begin teaching again.
Every child in completely different and especially when working with children as young as 4 years old- I have to quickly identify how they work and develop, in order to insure they are enjoying and getting the most out of every session. It is key to a child’s learning that I help them really enjoy what they are doing, as engagement and understanding is completely vital. Therefore, I will identify their general needs and how I shall approach them.
