With over 20 years of experience as a classroom teacher, private tutor, and examiner, I bring a deep understanding of both my subject specialisms and the methods that help students succeed. As a GCSE and A Level specialist, I have extensive knowledge of exam requirements, curriculum content, and effective revision strategies.

Tutoring Experience

I have consistently helped students achieve outstanding results in both History and Politics at GCSE and A Level. Many of my tutees have exceeded their target grades, secured top marks in coursework, and gained entry into competitive sixth forms and universities. I am proud of the excellent outcomes my students achieve year after year, both in school and through home education.

With over 20 years of experience as a teacher, tutor, and examiner, I bring in-depth knowledge of subject content, exam requirements, and how to support individual students to achieve their full potential. I have taught a wide range of History options at both GCSE and A Level, and I am confident teaching all Politics units and specifications across all major exam boards.

I work closely with exam boards through training and consultation and have access to secure materials and assessment resources. This allows me to stay fully up to date with current curriculum expectations and best practices in exam preparation.

I have successfully supported home-schooled students in both A Level History and Politics, offering structured programmes and tailored feedback. I specialise in developing essay writing skills and coursework support, particularly for Year 11 and Year 13 students. I also teach IGCSE History and Religious Studies, and I have contributed to the design and delivery of the 9–1 GCSE curriculum.

Beyond GCSE and A Level, I tutor and moderate the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), offering guidance from project planning to final presentation. I also provide intensive revision sessions—with discounts available for group lessons—and have experience teaching University Access courses and adult learners.

By helping students recognise their own improvements and develop a growth mindset, they become more motivated, independent, and capable of achieving their academic goals.
I take a structured, personalised, and engaging approach to tutoring, with the clear goal of ensuring both rapid progress and long-term academic success. Every student learns differently, and I believe that effective teaching begins with understanding those differences. That’s why I always begin with an introductory session to assess the student’s current level, learning style, confidence, and specific goals—whether they’re working towards an exam, improving coursework, or building subject knowledge from the ground up.
From this first session, I develop a tailored medium-term learning plan that outlines key topics, skill-building objectives, and strategies for assessment preparation. This plan is flexible and regularly reviewed to ensure it continues to meet the student’s evolving needs.
I adapt my teaching methods to suit each individual—whether that means using guided essay modelling, exam-style practice, interactive discussion, or targeted skill drills. My lessons are designed to be intellectually stimulating, supportive, and focused on measurable progress. Wherever possible, I incorporate feedback from schools, examiners, or parents to ensure a joined-up and focused approach.
