I am a specialist Oxbridge admissions tutor and a PhD candidate at the Francis Crick Institute.
I graduated with a double 1st Class degree from the University of Cambridge in Natural Sciences with a specialisation in Organic Chemistry and Chemical Biology, I am excited to share my knowledge and love for science, and learning in general, with younger students. I am passionate about scientific communication and enjoy breaking down complicated concepts into an easily understandable form.
I believe anyone is capable of achieving their academic goals with the right guidance and level of commitment. I enjoy working with ambitious and hard-working students of all ability levels as they progress through their academic careers.
I specialise in helping students prepare for Oxbridge admissions for Biological and Physical Natural Sciences (Cambridge) and Biology and Chemistry (Oxford). Over the last 3 years I have helped 7 students with their applications including any admissions assessments (e.g. NSAA) and extensive interview preparation. All 7 students were successful and received offers to study at either Oxford or Cambridge.
I also have experience preparing in applying to US Universities and the test taking and essay writing involved in applications. I would be more than happy to provide coaching or guidance through the process.
The key to developing genuine understanding in any field, but particularly Mathematics and the Sciences, is problem solving. A fundamental part of my approach is the active application of new knowledge to increasingly stretching questions, with a particular focus on past paper questions for those working towards a qualification.
Beyond this, my teaching approach is dynamic and flexible. All individuals learn differently and respond best to different approaches and techniques. Before the first session I like to establish the students preferences and current learning habits.
Exam technique and study skills are an often neglected areas of focus that can be a limiting factor in exam performance. For some students this is not an issue, however I will always establish their level and decide if any further guidance is required.
