A versatile and friendly personality, determined to do my best for any pupil who is willing to learn. If your talents appear to lie elsewhere, such as in English or art or sports, I know these will eventually contribute to your ability to appreciate maths which is creative, broad in scope and satisfying.
After 14 years of experience teaching maths at preparatory and secondary schools I left the classroom for family reasons, and have offered private tuition under the name "Maths Direct" for the last 8 years. During this time I have taught all ages from 4 to 40+ and all abilities from primary up to A-level, and International Baccalaureate. Many pupils have returned over several years and recommended me to friends or family. Through me pupils have achieved scholarships to public schools, passed the 11 Plus, got A's and A*s at GCSE and achieved full marks in A-level modules.
By helping pupils to succeed I try to make sure that they look forward to their lessons and gain confidence. With greater motivation they not only learn more in the lesson but also between lessons. Ny ambition is to simplify maths to as many people as possible and help them to appreciate its elegance. All those tough topics like algebra, graphs, negative numbers, logs, trig, calculus, vectors...I love them all and take pride in making them simpler for those who have lost their way or do not fully understand their teacher. I am sympathetic and a good listener so able to identify quickly where a pupil is having difficulty. If you have tough exams coming up I will make sure you are fully prepared and achieve your best.
