My name is Nicole, I have just completed my PhD in Chemistry at the University of Nottingham.
Experienced in private tutoring of students from GCSE to University.
My teaching approach is personalised, student-centred, and interactive. Every student learns differently and therefore tailor my methods to fit each individual's learning style. Below is a general structure to my approach:
Assessment and Goal Setting - understand each student's current level and identify areas of improvement. Set out clear achievable aims to keep the sessions focused. This will be in the introductory lesson.
Customised Plans - Create plans suited to the student's needs, ensuring they are engaging, relevant and progressive.
Exam Technique and Confidence - Building skills beyond learning the material and focusing on the student's study skills, time management, and exam strategies.
Support and Engagement - I aim to create a positive and supportive learning environment where the student feels comfortable and motivated. I encourage the students to ask questions and to participate in discussions. I aim to be patient, and approachable and work both with students and parents to empower confidence in learning.
