Nidhi

Nidhi

I am a professional Education Consultant with a decade of tutoring experience. I work with schools and families to help A Level students organise their revision and plan ahead of exams. I also run teacher CPD sessions at Maths conferences and schools to share my experience with other educators. My students have gone from U's to A's repeatedly and some went on to study Maths at university.

My successful network of students comes from positive recommendations by schools, teachers and parents. I have often taught several children in a family and been recommended to their friends. I have also tutored small groups of students at a local school where 81% of students showed marked improvement in results.

I have students spanning KS3, GCSE, IGCSE and A Level. My students have improved by more than two grades on average. My 100% rating from past clients is a direct consequence of this.

Head of Maths, St Clement Danes School
“Thank you so much for all the work you did with HL. I taught him AS and A2 Maths. He began as a weaker student but ended up with an A* at A2. This was largely due to your tutoring methods – i.e. teaching H a topic BEFORE I did, so that my lessons were consolidating knowledge and methods already practised. H benefitted so much from this prep. His questions in class were always at a deeper level than those students who were seeing the topic for the first time. I will be delighted to recommend your services to any A Level Maths student who asks for a tutor.”

Tutoring Experience

Teaching revision courses at the prestigious Harrow School, my help is solicited to design intense revision programmes that cater to every student's individual needs.

I am also the recommended Maths tutor for St Clement Danes School, Rickmansworth. After a string of students seeking my help and improving drastically, the head of Maths has personally vouched for my skills and tutoring technique. This recognition with eight years of experience tutoring in North West London has helped me established myself as a top tutor with a vast network of students.

Tutoring Approach

Organised and thorough past paper practice - there is a foolproof process that I follow.

STRATEGISE
- Time Efficiency -
➢ Diagnose areas of immediate concern
➢ Outline an achievable, engaging and focused plan
➢ Build a rapport with the student that is both encouraging and firm
➢ Zoom into weaknesses and invest time in smoothing out problems
➢ Instil sustainable change in attitude and perception of Maths

REVISE
- Theory in Practice -
➢ Topic Navigation
• Specialise in summarising large topics with concise flow diagrams.
• Students are able to retain and deduce effectively
➢ Optimising on Mistakes
• Remove the sting of making mistakes by using them as key learning tools
• Encouraging students to record their mistakes, resulting in a bespoke journal of their errors
➢ Exam Mindset
• Emphasis on dissecting past exam questions; focusing on reasons for anxiety and stress
• Setting intense past exam practice, in timed conditions to mimic the exam room scenario

ANTICIPATE
- Facing Fears -
➢ Create high awareness of likely mistakes and how to resolve them using their journal
➢ Practice extracting key information from the question and methodically piecing together the answer
➢ Promote not judging a question by it's size, tackling preconceived notions of difficulty
➢ Create a comfort with the exam format to almost anticipate questions
➢ Plan ahead realistically to reduce stress during Exam period

TESTIMONIAL (Long term Client):
"I first engaged Nidhi Gupta as a tutor for our son in Y11 to assist him with his GCSE Maths studies. She helped him get a high A-Grade when he had been targeted by his school for a low B-Grade at GCSE. Despite the school concluding at the start of Year 12 that he “had neither the aptitude nor understanding to be taking this course”, encouraged by Nidhi, he stuck with Maths for AS & A2 levels & Nidhi tutored him throughout.

He was targeted by his school to get a D-Grade at the beginning of Year 12, yet with Nidhi’s support, he went on to achieve an A* in his A2 Maths this summer. He also achieved Grade B in Economics & History but thanks to that star, he is now taking a BA(Hons) Degree in Economics at the University of York. It should be noted that he was one of only 6 students at his school to achieve A* in Maths. Nidhi has also tutored our second son since Y12. Having been targeted by the school to achieve a B-Grade at AS Maths, he achieved 100% in all of his AS units – the only one to do so in his school. The school have now (unsurprisingly) predicted that he will get an A* in his A2 exams next summer. He plans to read Chemistry at university in 2014 and has already received offers to study at the Universities of Bristol, York,
Warwick, Sheffield & Southampton.

Nidhi also tutors our fourth son having started in Y9 and now continuing into Y10 GCSE. If it is relevant, all of our sons have attended St Clement Danes School, Chorleywood.

I cannot recommend Nidhi as a teacher more highly. She is a woman with a passion for tutoring & great teaching skills, the like of which I have never come across before or since. We have engaged other tutors but none have ever come close to Nidhi.

She has taken 3 quite ordinary students who had each felt that they couldn’t do Maths and encouraged them to understand the subject in such depth that two of them have had the confidence to pursue university degrees which have a high level of dependency on Maths & the third is looking already towards taking it at A-Level.
As the saying goes, the proof of the pudding is in the eating!
