NOTE: FREE TEACHING for a limited time!
Whilst I update my teaching resources, all sessions will be free - yes, normal 1-on-1 tuition for free! I will be creating individually tailored presentations as required, and feedback is encouraged.
I'm a foundation doctor working in North West England. Whilst my traditional schooling has been focussed on the natural sciences, with particular interests in medicine, maths and logic, I have a profound appreciation of the liberal arts and human psychology.
Understanding the root of human thought and emotion helps find holistic solutions to problems. When teaching, this means I pay a lot of attention to what the student already knows and exactly what difficulties they are finding with the subject before deciding on the best approach.
I have enjoyed tutoring throughout most of my university life and, after taking a break for finals and the start of F1, I am ready to get back into it!
Aside from my years as a private tutor, I have worked in a high school, volunteered for a year as a teaching assistant, and trained in teaching with a TEFL Qualification.
Being quite inquisitive and meticulous in my understanding of subject matter paradoxically allows me to explain things quite simply by using familiar analogies that are easy to grasp. This is because a deep understanding allows me to boil a topic down to its simple first principles. A solid core is then easy to build on and forms a very strong memory anchor.
Evidence-based active recall and visual representation (i.e. drawings) are also naturally intertwined into my teaching methods and I share my tips, tricks and mnemonics along the way. Testing is done subtly and naturally as we casually refer to previously taught information whilst building new information on top, but I also regularly use formal practice questions and I am quite adaptable to individual needs.
