I am a gap year student, going to study Mathematics and Economics next year at university.
I have achieved 3 A*s in Maths, Further Maths and Economics.
During my time in A-Level's, I tutored two sets of students GCSE maths at my school. All of my tutees achieved an 8/9 in their final exam.
I also tutor locally in person to a handful of students, they have found my approaches useful and my explanations clear and have stated they felt improvements even after their first lesson.
As cliche as it sounds, I believe that practise is key.
In a session I will aim to quickly recap the previous topic covered with the student, ensuring this is still comfortable for them.
After I will move on to their new topic that I or they feel needs improvement, I will cover a few examples showing my thought process and workings, before guiding the student to answer similar questions with my help.
Once we have built a good level of confidence, we will move onto trickier questions and past paper examples to tackle the style that will be asked in an exam.
I will incorporate games with this such as, seeing how quick they can solve the questions and racing to answer them against myself.
Finally, I will set homework at the end of each lesson which the student can email to me for me to mark in my own time.
