I am a fully qualified teacher with 10 years experience and I have taught English and Drama from KS2 to GCSE in a variety of schools. I have been a Head of Year and Head of Department so I have a plethora of both subject and pastoral knowledge. I have an MA in Education which allowed me to deepen my understanding of teaching and learning and apply this to my practice.

Tutoring Experience

I have worked with students from various backgrounds and levels of proficiency, including GCSE English students. My tutoring sessions are interactive, engaging, and focused on building confidence in language skills.

Before any learning can take place, I get to know my students and where the gaps are in their knowledge. Each lesson is then meticulously designed to cater to the unique needs and learning styles of my students. Through dynamic lessons, interactive activities, and thought-provoking discussions, I nurture a love of learning and enthusiasm with the subject matter. My patience and understanding creates a supportive atmosphere where mistakes are seen as opportunities for growth, and every question is met with genuine interest and encouragement.

During teaching, I plan activities in accordance to the student's progress ensuring that they always have a chance to shine. I challenge students appropriately and provide them with opportunities to apply their knowledge. By incorporating exam materials and cross-curricular links, I aim to make the learning process engaging and relevant to their lives and education.

In addition to academic growth, I also focus on fostering important skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and effective communication. By empowering my students with these skills, I help them become independent learners who are well-equipped to navigate through challenges and achieve success in their academic journey and beyond.
