I am a highly motivated Chemistry teacher with strong analytical and problem-solving ability to help students achieve success in GCSE Biology or Chemistry and A level Science. I feel as though I'm a compassionate teacher who uses humour often to help not only build understanding of chemistry but also alleviate the stresses students can face on a daily basis.

I am a 35-year-old Londoner with a strong interest in not only the traditional sciences but also computer science. I am teaching myself to code in a range of languages including Java, Python, C++ and SQL and have recently begun learning about algorithm design and structure.
I have eight years science teaching experience within secondary education. I have experience in teaching Biology, Chemistry and Physics up to GCSE level and Biology and Chemistry up to A Level.
I obtained a PGCE in Biology from King's College London and have previously worked in scientific research in the field of Immunology. I am primarily a chemistry teacher with 5 years’ experience of teaching AS level Chemistry and A Level Organic Chemistry.
I have spent my entire teaching career at a single, outstanding mixed comprehensive school in West London with experience of teaching a range of students with complex needs to high achieving students at A Level who went on to study various sciences including Medicine, Dentistry and Chemical Engineering at Russell Group Universities. I have three years’ experience as Co-ordinator of BTEC Applied Science at KS5 and have experience teaching all three sciences within this course.
I am very familiar with Ed Excel and OCR specifications of Chemistry for GCSE and A level respectively and have experience with AQA for all three sciences in the past.
I became a teacher to help support and nurture young people and I am fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to do this within my field of expertise. I employ a friendly approach, filled with humour but with firm boundaries. I enjoy building relationships with students and to see them succeed still brings me joy even after nearly a decade in the sector.

I'm able to use my analytical and problem-solving skills to assess a base-line level of ability of the student in order to plan a path forward, in which gaps in knowledge are addressed and understanding of the subject matter is built upon in a friendly and welcoming environment.
I'm meticulous in tracking the performance of my students as it allows me to provide targeted instruction and advice more effectively, especially with regards to misconceptions and exam technique. Rapid and sustained bursts of progress of students can be a great remedy to the often poor mental health seen in students today. I aim to build resilience in my students simply by showing them proof of their own small successes through appropriately designed and achievable tasks and questioning that build in difficulty.
