Inquisitive and curious tutor passionately ready to explore, expand on and explain STEM subjects with fellow eager learners. Enthusiastic and relaiable student with a strong foundation in Chemical Engineering from Heriot-Watt University. Passionate about helping students break down complex material to digestable parts for effective retention. Experienced with a variety of learning styles and teaching styles. I have a passion for reading and writting and can help you with English too!
Throughout my university experience I have been a valuable resource to my peers for the discussion and exploration of complex chemical engineering subjects including: mathematics, chemistry, biology/bioprocessing, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, heat transfer, process control and automation, process safety, sustainable development and sustainable engineering prinnciples. I am a member of the EPS (Engineering and Physical Science) Outreach team at Heriot-Watt University. Here i have explained complex subjects such as electricity and magnetism, sound and resonance and waves and optics in a simple way to chlidren and adults of all ages at the Edinburgh Science Festival.
One must first focus on the problem before delving into the solution, this is a key point which many students miss. As a student of chemical engineering i have a systems thinking approach to learning where I try to understand how different systems are connected and how a change in one can dramatically effect another. I try to first see the context first, delve into a a precise and specific area then take a step back again to see why it matters and why it is useful.
I have taught myself to learn quickly and effectively and have acheived good results. I believe i can not only teach you STEM subjects but help teach you how to learn.
