After completing an undergraduate and a masters degree in modern history, I was offered the opportunity to pursue a fully funded PhD in history at the University of Leeds. I specialised in a combination of British, Caribbean and environmental history. I have published in peer-reviewed journals such as New West Indian Guide, Alternautas as well as in History Today and Time magazine. In 2023, I will release my first book titled Negotiating Relief and Freedom, it will be published with Manchester University Press in their Studies in Imperialism series. A passion for the value of history, education and the natural world is suffused through all my work. When I am not in the thick of all things education and tutoring you will find me either out on my road bike, recording music or singing in a choir.
I am published historian with a PhD from the University of Leeds and recognised qualifications in education. I have been a lecturer at The London School of Economics and held research positions at the University of London. I have seven years university teaching experience and five years’ experience as a tutor. I have a passion for education and strong belief in the transformative power of tailored, one-to-one tuition. Tutoring made a massive difference to my education, and I would like to help other people succeed and attain their educational goals.
I provide tutoring in hour blocks either in person or online within the working week and within school and university term time. That said, I am keen to be flexible and I am open organising sessions both longer and outside of the working week.
In a typical class together, I tend to blend study skills and content examination but, as tailored tuition sits at the heart of what I do, we can work together to shape the classes to your needs.
