I’m Owen, I’m 32 years old and a qualified teacher and tutor currently based in Cardiff. I completed my French degree in 2013 and have spent time studying and working in France. I teach French from KS3 to adult beginners and can cover the WJEC, AQA and Edexcel exam boards as required. I also offer Welsh lessons as I'm a first language Welsh speaker and possess an A Level in the subject. I teach second language Welsh learners from KS3 to GCSE as well as adult beginners.

Tutoring Experience

I have 4 years experience in teaching and tutoring French and can cover the WJEC, AQA and Edexcel exam boards as required. As of 2024 I have been providing 1:1 and group tuition online.

Tutoring Approach

For school age students I use a range of resources designed to develop the four language skills. I tailor my lessons to the needs of the student, for example, lessons may be focused on a particular topic of vocabulary or a grammar point they're struggling with. I also like to use language learning websites and interactive quizzes in order to aid and test student learning in an engaging way. If your goal is to achieve a good grade in your exams, I can use past papers in order to practice and explain important exam techniques.

I provide lessons for adult learners who want to learn French for business, travel or just for fun at beginner and intermediate level. Lessons will follow a step-by-step approach and prepare learners to speak French in a range of everyday situations. Lessons are well prepared and run at your own pace and I provide the support necessary to build your confidence, vocabulary and fluency.

With adult beginner learners of Welsh I follow a course book and use my own resources. Lessons follow a step by step approach and gradually build vocabulary and grammar knowledge as you progress through the course. Lessons can also be tailored for those looking to use Welsh for work or at home with their children.
