Having graduated with an upper second-class honours degree in Economics, I spent 5 years teaching before moving into industry where I spent 25 years most of which as a freelance IT consultant. I decided to retire from industry in 2023. I wish to use my knowledge and experience to help young people achieve their maximum potential.
2023/2024 Part-time temporary position with Burnley College teaching A2 Economics. All 32 students passed their A2 Economics exam with 2 students achieving A* grades and 5 students achieving A grades.
2009. Part-time teacher of AS Economics at Merchant Taylors, all 15 students passed their AS external exam.
1981 - 1985 Teaching A level Economics at a boys grammar school.
I offer personalised one to one teaching for both AS and A2 Economics covering syllabuses for all major exam boards.
Tuition can be tailored to suit the needs of the individual student, either short-term covering a topic or topics the student finds challenging, or regular tuition which takes a student up to their external exam.
My goal is to build confidence in understanding more challenging material to enable students to achieve the highest possible grade.
Sessions can be for one or two hours depending on the needs of the individual student. Sessions can also be on-line or face to face at the students place of residence.
Material will be provided during each session, students will be expected to read and understand the stimulus material, this will be followed by a variety of tasks to test a student’s knowledge and understanding of the subject matter. I can also provide help with essays planning, essay structure and content.
I also provide extra tuition for those students applying to Oxford or Cambridge.
