My name is Paul Burney.
I am a CELTA qualified teacher of English, and have taught English as a foreign language for 5 years.
I can teach all levels and I love teaching passionately - to help someone improve and to get to know them is so rewarding and so fun.
I look forward to teaching anyone I can on here!
I am a graduate in French with International Relations, who has taught English in Switzerland and Indonesia as well as London too. Having taught in a primary school in an orphanage in Borneo for 2 years, I speak an almost fluent level of Indonesian too.
In 2016 I taught a Swiss banker English privately when I lived in Geneva for my year abroad.
From 2020-2022 I taught English as a foreign language for Hamsayeh International, an organisation that reaches out to refugees in the UK from all over the world, their levels being Entry 1, Entry 2, Entry 3 and Level 1.
From 2022-2024 I taught English to an orphanage in Indonesia for the Borneo River of Life Foundation, teaching children from the ages of 5-12 and adults aged 19-22.
My teaching approach depends a little bit on the person, but reading questions out loud and reading answers out loud is vital!
Repetition is the key to success and drilling is super important, so linguistic rules, word conjugation and phrases that are important are 'drilled' into your head!
Variety is the spice of life too, so using songs, videos and and games as well as worksheets is incredibly helpful too.
