Experienced teacher who has been tutoring and marking the exams for over 10 years. I can tutor 1-to-1 or accommodate online tutoring. Graduated from Glasgow University 2010. I am a very hard working and conscientious professional who always strives to meet the learners needs and encourage them to achieve their potential in everything they do. I have exceptional communication skills and develop an excellent rapport with my students. I will do everything in the best interests of the students, motivate them to work hard and provide them with opportunities to succeed and achieve their goals. Last year 100% of tutees I worked with achieved an A or B.

Tutoring Experience

I have vast experience teaching geography at all levels for the past 11 years and years marking Higher Exams and Higher Assignments. Throughout that time I have taught SQA qualifications at every level and this is my 9th year teaching the new national and higher qualifications, which have been implemented throughout Scotland. Additionally, I have been at the forefront in my department in developing resources to support the learners needs and ensuring all students are meeting the standards required to pass all the outcomes for each level.

I have 10 years experience as a tutor and during that time all candidates I have tutored have gained an A-C at higher level. Tutoring results 2018-19: 5 tutees were awarded an A or B, 3 of which had either failed their prelim or a unit test before I started working with them. In each SQA level class I have taught over the past 5 years over 70% of pupils have achieved an A or B.

Tutoring Approach

My approach is to work one-on-one with students to build upon their knowledge and enhance their understanding of the content in the geography curriculum. I provide resources and study aids, which helps to improve this aspect of their learning. Additionally, I work with the student to improve their exam technique, which is essential for achieving a top grade at all levels. In doing so, I will teach the student how to write exemplar answers, work on timing and provide detailed feedback on the areas which require improvement.
