I have been teaching Physics for 24 years, half of which as a head of dept. I have worked in three academically selective independent schools in Hertfordshire teaching students of all secondary school keystages. I have also tutored students studying OCR, AQA and Edexcel examination boards, so have a good understanding of the expectations the examiners have. Many of my students have gone onto oxbridge universities so I can assist with entrance exams such as the Physics Aptitude Test for Oxford or the physics component of the BMat as well as helping with UCAS personal statements.
I am currently teaching edexcel iGCSE physics and OCR A physics at A-level. I am familiar with all the different exam board’s expectations.
I like to inspire confidence in the tutees through the use of actual examination materials (that I provide for the session). I will happily run through and summarise complete topics, or focus on exam practice. I can also give advice on UCAS applications and coursework. Most often students need help in applying their knowledge to unfamiliar scenarios in examination questions, by providing them with as many examples as possible, it really helps them to tackle such problems with more confidence. If students would like to work with a friend who also requires physics tuition, I would happily tutor both at the same time at a reduced individual rate if that is convenient. I can also offer online tutoring.
