My wife and I are originally from Birmingham but we moved into the beautiful county of Shropshire nearly three years ago. I took early retirement from school teaching and became a home tutor eleven years ago. I love what I do and enjoy seeing my students achieve their goals.
I enjoy making pottery, gardening, walking and cycling. I support our village church as Church Warden. I sing and play the guitar. Walking is a daily privilege. When I get a moment, I enjoy calligraphy.
I qualified in Religious and Theological Studies at Westhill College, Birmingham in 1986, obtaining a B Ed Hons Degree. I taught in various Comprehensive schools for two years before transferring to Primary education. My career enabled me to teach every age group, until I decided to take early retirement in 2010. Since that time I have worked as a home tutor, broadening out into GCSE and A Level. I focus on Maths and English primarily but also cover the three sciences. I have now worked with dozens and dozens of students of all ages and my success rate has been almost 100%.
My students and parents tell me that they find me calm and friendly. I take pains to explain things as carefully and thoroughly as I can. I vary the content of the lessons so as to keep up motivation and interest. I believe in giving heaps of encouragement but my standards and expectations are high.
