I tend to be quite a busy, active person. I am a Cub Leader and an Elder in the Presbyterian Church of Wales. Until relatively recently (!), I travelled quite extensively - from South America to the Far East. This has given me an opportunity to maintain my linguistic fluency - and to learn new languages. Additionally, I am a British Council Schools Ambassador, advising and helping schools to develop international projects.
Socially, I read widely, walk, cycle and go to the gym.
Currently retired, I was a teacher (and then Head of Department) of MFL. I have taught French, Italian, Spanish and German to A Level; I taught through the medium of both English and Welsh. Additionally, I taught RE, through the medium of Welsh.
I am a lively teacher, who has always been passionate about my subject. I particularly enjoy developing oral skills and confidence in using the language. I have (current) experience of teaching young people with ADHD and with a lack of confidence. It is my aim to make language learning as enjoyable as possible, whilst ensuring that we follow the targets that the individual tutee needs to achieve.
