My name is Peter I enjoy the outdoors and reading. I love to travel and cook. I’m taking some time out of my teaching career to do some travelling, but I’m hoping to keep my hand in by doing some part time online tutoring.
I’ve been a teacher for 25 years (1999-2023) 23 of which were at the same school. I’ve taught Maths and Physics up to A Level. For the last 10 years of my teaching career I mainly taught Physics and always had exam classes across years 10-13. My most recent experience has been with A level and GCSE AQA Physics. Although I have taught Edexcel and in the past and iGCSE.
My approach to Physics has always been a practical one and trying to relate Physics concepts to everyday experience. especially at GCSE.
I’ve always thought that teaching for exams is a two stage process. First of all one has to teach Physics concepts and theories, only once those basic building blocks are in place can one teach how to pass a Physics exam, which is a separate skill on its own.
Most of all though my philosophy has always been one of friendliness and approachability. When people tell me they don’t like or can’t do physics I tell them they just had rubbish teachers.
