My name is Prithu and I graduated from Oxford University in September 2014 with a 2:i Masters degree in Engineering Science. I have been tutoring since 2012, and so have more than 7 years of experience at teaching students at various levels.
I am a tutor that makes sure to have bespoke plans to every student that I teach, with very clear goals that are achievable in a given timeline. I also provide written feedback after each session that I take, so that the student and the parent can both track the progress made, and so they have a log of all of the main points covered.
NB: I tend to work centrally, and so the home address that is registered to this site is actually that of Charing Cross library, so as to indicate the areas that I am willing to teach in.
I have experience in teaching GCSE Maths, Physics and Chemistry; Maths, Further Maths and Physics at A Level; and preparation for Oxbridge interviews for subjects like Engineering, Physics and Natural Sciences (Physical). I have worked with over 50 students in a one-to-one basis, and even more in a small classroom basis, and so have experience in dealing with very different types of students with different expectations of their final grade.
I have a lot of experience in working over Skype, as this makes up the bulk of students that I have worked with. I am also well versed with Zoom and the shareable whiteboard system, and am very comfortable teaching online.
In the current climate, with schools closed, I can also help teach the syllabus through transitional phases on a shorter term basis as students eventually slow go back to school.
The student is obviously the most important part of the whole tutoring process, and this is why I try very hard to initially find out not what the problems they might have are, but why they would have them. Once I talk with the student and see where exactly I can concentrate my efforts, I try and make a concise and effective lesson plan for the coming sessions.
I try and communicate with the students at all stages as well as I can- to make them understand that they can ask me anything they want, even repeating a certain solution multiple times. I try and make sure that they are happy in the environment that they are learning in, and try and do the most that I can to achieve that atmosphere.
