I am a 19 year old university student studying Radiotherapy and Oncology and in my second year of study. As my course is very healthcare/science based, I found myself repeating a lot of those baseline knowledge from my GCSE sciences as well as the built on knowledge from my A Level studies.
I am student ambassador, student representative and events manager at my university for different things so I believe my leadership skills have developed a lot over the last few months. These have helped me learn how to liaise effectively with others and how important communication is.
I have taught biology A level in person and online. I am only familiar with the AQA syllabus for A level biology. I have also taught biology and chemistry GCSE in person for a few months, for all exam boards. I have also taught English Literature for students doing "Romeo and Juliet" and "An Inspector Calls ". I prefer to teach online now as it is easier to balance how demanding my university course is with work. Zoom or Google meet is preferable as they have whiteboards that can be used.
I prefer to teach when students come prepared for the lesson, so they know exactly what they want to do and what questions they have which makes it easier to focus on the parts they don't know, while refreshing them on the parts they do know. My teaching style is very visually based, where I draw diagrams and get students to also draw mechanisms and processes as I believe this helps the many steps in some biology and chemistry topics sticks. I believe I can adapt to the needs of the student in question and find many ways as there is not a single straightforward path to learning.
ALERT FOR THOSE WHO WANT A LEVEL BIOLOGY TUTORING: I finished my a levels in 2021 meaning I didn't finish the course. However, due to my university course I have done enough to understand the syllabus as it has a lot of biology in it. Please let me know in advance what you want to go through so I can see if it requires extra preparation.
