I am a qualified primary school teacher from Glasgow. I grew up in Belgium and attended at international school. This is where I really discovered my passion for teaching and working with children. I volunteered for charities with my school and set up my own babysitting service which turned into my first experience in school tuition.
I qualified as a primary teacher with an honours degree and have taught across the stages of primary classes in Scotland from working with nursery pupils right through to primary 7 where I have been a class teacher for 4 years. I am very experienced in teaching all subjects across the curriculum. I spent 2 years working internationally at a school in Milan, Italy. In Milan, not only was I a class teacher to 22 EAL pupils, but outside of my full-time job I tutored Italian children in English. These children ranged in age from 7 to 16. At present, I am an early years teacher, working with preschool children age 3-5. I’m also mum to two girls and this has only increased my passion and drive to help and support young people in life and learning.
I always strive to engage with the young people and identify their learning style and any specific learning or support needs in order to plan my teaching effectively. I put the pupil at the centre and will try whenever possible to include them in the planning as I find the learning and outcomes are much more successful when pupils have been involved from the beginning and therefore are more invested and take responsibility in their own learning.
