Hi my name is Rachel and I am an experienced teacher and graduate from The University of Brighton where I was awarded a BA (Hons) with QTS in Physical Education. My sporting passions are athletics netball and rugby and I love teaching these sports to my students of all abilities.
I have been teaching for 12 years as a PE teacher and I have 100% pass rate at GCSE level. Before becoming a mum, I was Head of a successful PE department where we achieved 100% 9-4 every year. I now line manage PE who have continued to be successful. I am passionate about PE and have the drive, knowledge and experience of how to help students achieve their goals. I also have taught in the Science department for many years so I have a clear understanding of the cross curricular links between the subject areas. I've worked closely with exam boards by taking students on trips to London, enhancing their learning and understanding of GCSE content.
I believe a strong working relationship between student and tutor is vital for success, and my approach is one that allows this to flourish as i'm very personable and like to adapt my teaching to suit the needs and abilities of each individual student.
Through my teaching experience, I have found students often struggle when it comes to applying their knowlegde to exam based questions. Through my explicit instructions, I can ensure that students application of knowledge develops as well as their confidence, and I will be able to continously determine their understanding through regular feedback in our sessions.
